Bergamot Ink and colour on paper, horizontal framed Inscribed and signed Baishi shanweng, with two seals of the artist Dated jisi year (1929) 26.5 x 124cm (10⅜ x 48⅞in) 注脚 齊白石 佛手 設色紙本 橫批 鏡框 一九二九年作 款識: 買地常思築佛堂,同龕彌勒已商量。勸余長作拈花笑,直到他年手自香。己巳(1929)冬,白石山翁並記。 鈐印:齊大、白石翁 註:具「白石花果圖額」標簽,乃湯山春峰堂裝裱。湯山春峰堂位於日本東京,創業於江戶時代末期(十九世紀中葉)。 佛手柑,俗稱佛手,因形狀如同佛像的手勢,故名。諧音福壽,又稱福壽柑。原產於佛教之國印度,後傳入我國南方。其形狀奇異,清香四溢,不僅為民間百姓喜愛,文人雅士也以之為案頭清供。 本幅以畫家家鄉尋常可見的佛手入畫,作橫幅折枝,不同於習見的頂天立地構圖,五只金黃的佛手果綴於枝蔓,色彩飽滿,筆勢縱橫,顯示畫家衰年變法已大獲成功。 齊白石作佛手不多,但貫穿衰年變法至晚歲,偶一出手,喜題此詩,或許是畫家在境況困窘時的自我安慰與勉勵,頗具禪意,彰顯性情。他曾自稱「半個和尚」、「與佛有緣」。民國初年,為避家鄉兵亂,北上京城,「從法源寺搬到龍泉寺,又從龍泉寺搬到石鏡庵,連搬三處,都是住的廟產。」齊白石常畫佛像,亦與諸多方外人士往來,甚至考慮百年之後,埋骨於陶然亭慈悲禪林。然而,如同他題畫自況句:「修來清靜華嚴佛,尚有塵寰未了因。」雖有佛心,但更入世。他筆下的世界五彩斑斕,充滿俗世的快樂,正如本幅禪味十足的佛手。
