Signed on base with enamels in archaic seal script GOTO. The ducks are finely wired while the sun and clouds are wireless. With Ivory netsuke on top depicting Fukurokuju, the Japanese deity of happiness, fortune, and longevity. Base and top have original pure silver rims with Jungin mark on lower one. Also has intricately carved original stand and cover. Goto Shozaburo was an important cloisonne maker in the Meiji period. He competed and medalled in many major international exhibitions. A similarly signed vase by Goto depicting a hawk on a branch was sold by Bonham's auction in 2013 for $42,500. Directly from a one owner Manhattan NY collector.
