The hinged liddisplöaying a landscape in which Shoulao sit on a rocky platform and is about receive various visitors: on the left Xiwangmu and her entourage, at the centre the Eight immortals and to the left two dignitaries. The front shows a palace with terrace and entrance gate, with Gui Ziyi sitting in the main hall and receiving visiting sons, at the sides still lifes with Flowervase, fruit baskets and antique objects, at the backside a lotus pond with a pheseant and other birds. The lock (a modern replacement) with a large key, at the sides two large bronze handles. Black lacquer to the inside and large fittings for the hinges. Several losses to the top side, and chips all along the edges.
