据清人纪昀《阅微草堂笔记》载道“云南翡翠玉，当时不以玉视之，不过如蓝田干黄，强名以玉耳，今则为珍玩，价远出真玉上矣。”可见在清代，翡翠已经成为了藏家的新宠。此套带扣通体鎏金，上面满工錾刻花卉，工艺十分精湛，带扣正面镶两块翠绿翡翠，中间一块则为碧玺。清代翡翠的用料不讲究透明度，但对于翠色有一定的要求，此件带扣无论从用料，还是做工，非一般民间作坊所能制作。
