Eren Eyuboglu (Turkish, 1913-1988),The Anatolian Family Mosaic(...where the parents face the past while the child has one eye to the future), glass tesserae set in concrete, signed and dated 1959 at lower right, within a custom hardwood frame.Frame dimensions 46 1/2 x 35 in. (192 lbs)Eren Eyuboglu was born in Romania, but most closely associated as a Turkish artist. She began her studies in Romania, but left for Paris in 1929. She spent the next four years studying at theAcadémie Julian and André Lhote. In 1934, she and her new husband moved to Istanbul. They were both active in "The Group D," a collection of Turkish artists open to new and modern artistic trends. Eyuboglu found her greatest inspiration in depicting the Anatolian people and preserving their traditional way of life in a modern stylized pictorial manner. She and her husband both embraced the ancient manner of mosaic. While many of her commissioned murals exist throughout Turkey, individual mosaics rarely come to market. A solo exhibition of Eyuboglu's paintings was mounted in 2018 - 2019 at CerModern in Ankara, Turkey, to highlight the important role of this modern woman artist.Additional high-resolution photos are available at www.lelandlittle.com Condition Report Minor scuffing and staining to frame; else in good estate condition.
