Elegant 9-flame Ballhaus chandelier, GDR classic. Mid 1950s, 1st of a total of 6 chandeliers. For the cultural restart of the GDR, different modern lighting concepts were implemented for concert halls, theaters, cinemas and ballrooms by the LBL (Leuchtenbau Leipzig) until the mid-1950s from materials of the KANDEM factory expropriated in 1948. This rare chandelier is an interesting testimony of the time. The chandelier impresses with elegant shapes typical of that period, good proportions, and dignified appearance. The brass-plated steel frame is extraordinarily robust. The surfaces show signs of wear and light patina. All glass shades are in near perfect condition. The chandelier has been refreshed and rewired. The diameter of the chandelier is 72 cm, the height of the base is 63 cm and the original total height is 112 cm. The large lamp glasses are 25 cm high and measure 15 cm in diameter. Notes Lighting, table lamps
