HOOD WITH DRAGON AND FENGHUANG BIRD FOR A NOBLE LADY China, Qing dynasty, 19th ct. L. 78 cm Blue satin silk embroidered with gold threads. Appliquéd borders made of beige silk, colorfully embroidered, knotted fringes of magenta-red and green silk with ball knots. Lined with vivid blue silk satin. Two tie bands of yellow silk. Dispersed between the large animals are clouds and Buddhist treasures. The borders are partly cut in ruyi shapes and embroidered with small-scale motifs.
