|白玉，玉带沁色，细腻温润，光洁素雅。器雕成随形，唇口，凹面很浅，表明此器当是用作笔掭，碾磨光润。器身光素无纹，纯以玉质取胜，尽显好玉无须多雕之意。|笔掭又名笔觇，为下笔行文描画之前用以掭墨吮毫之具，以避免一笔之间发生墨色浓淡不均的现象。此笔掭材质优良，造型小巧玲珑，乃因书案濡笔墨用水不多之故，大概为画工笔佛像或书小楷经文而备，体现出古代文人的案头雅趣。
