A Royal Naval Officer's commission, awarded to Lieutenant Amos Plymsell of HMS Brune, with Admiralty seal and revenue duty stamp, on vellum, signed and dated 1st August 1836, 26 x 31.5cm, mounted and framed, Lieutenant Amos Plymsell served on HMS Brune, based at the Jamaica Station under the command of Captain John Edward Walcott, and was instrumental in capturing the Spanish piratical schooner 'Zaragozana'. HMS Brune was a captured French vessel, 'Thétis', taken in action on 10 November 1808, when she was brought into British service and renamed. Condition report: Creased where folded over the years, with some spotting and browning to edges.
