A oil on canvas portrait of a young antebellum girl in a garden. The composition of the scene is composed of a girl in a black and red dress with a straw hat and ringlet curls holding a rose. There is a trellis of flowers to the girl's right and a column to her left. On the verso the stretcher is labelled "godall's...pantechnicon." Dimensions are: framed, 34 1.2 inches tall X 29 1/2 inches wide, 87.63 cm X 74.93 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The stretcher label is faded and there is some minor inpainting to her dress, touch up on the trellis, and 3 patches on the verso. Provenance: From a private VA collection.
