A pair of oil on canvas paintings dating to the 19th century. The pair may display a husband and wife. The woman wears a red velvet dress with lace and a brooch as she gazes to the left of the composition. The man gazes directly out at the viewer and wears a tuxedo. Dimensions are: the man's portrait measures, 31 inches tall X 24 1/2 inches wide, 78.74 cm X 62.23 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The portrait of a man has a patch to the verso, inpainting to his chin and neck. The portrait of a woman has a small puncture by her shoulder with two minor areas of loss to the paint by the curtain and bottom of dress. Both works have repairs to the ogee frames and were heavily revarnished, with the varnish bleeding through the works. Provenance: From a private VA collection.
