A 19th century oil on canvas painting of the Visitation. The figures are seen in the central foreground in a pyramidal composition. Mary is seen at the top holding the baby Jesus while the young John the Baptist on the left plays with him. Elizabeth is to the right of Mary looking off into the distance. A figure is seen in the back, possibly Joseph in his workshop. The composition features a bassinet, staff with Latin lettering, a sewing basket and a cat. Dimensions are: framed, 28 inches tall X 23 inches wide, 71.12 cm X 58.42 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Crazing throughout, small areas of loss to the paint including a small chip to the top left, the bottom right has an area of damage by the sewing basket, and some scattered spots of inpainting.
