A painting by Japanese artist Kano Eisen’in Michinobu. Michinobu (b.1730, d.1790) was a painter of the Kano school of painting and appointed “inner painter” to the shogun. The painting depicts the seated Buddhist figure Jurojin with a deer and his walking staff. Dimensions are: with the frame the piece measures, 61 inches tall X 22 inches wide, 154.94 cm X 55.88 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is some minor creasing and cracking to the paper. Not inspected outside of the frame. Provenance: From a private collection in Lorton, Virginia. The collector has been restoring antiques for over 50 years in the Washington, DC area.
