A watercolor painting by Japanese artist Uemura Shoen. Uemura Shoen is the pseudonym used by Uemura Tsune (B. 1875, D. 1949) as her artist name. Tsune was an important artist known for her Bijin-ga paintings done typically in the Nihonga style. The work features a young woman in a blue kimono holding a fan. The work is signed on the top left. Dimensions are: framed the work measures, 19 inches tall X 14 inches wide, 48.26 cm X 35.56 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: No noted damage, not inspected outside of the frame. Provenance: From a private collection in Lorton, Virginia. The collector has been restoring antiques for over 50 years in the Washington, D.C. area.
