L.: 27 cm - H.: 12,5 cm The arms are those of the Austrian von Zinzendorf family, and date from 1637. The actual command however, was placed much later. A possible reason may have been the anticipated birth of the most famous member of the family, Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf, in 1700. Nikolaus Ludwig, Reichsgraf von Zinzendorf und Pottendorf (26 May 1700 - 9 May 1760) was a German religious and social reformer, bishop of the Moravian Church, founder of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine, Christian mission pioneer and a major figure of 18th century protestantism.Based on other known pieces from the service, we attribute it to Adrianus Kocx, the 'De Grieksche A' workshop, Delft, 1687-1701. Ref.:- Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, object number BK-1962-54, for a tea caddy from the von Zinzendorf command.
