Pierre-Louis Pierson (French, 1822-1913) Emperor Napoleon III and His Son, the Prince Imperial Napoleon Eugène, 1861 Gelatin silver print, printed circa 1930 by Studio Braun 9-3/8 x 7 inches (23.8 x 17.8 cm) (image) Pierre-Louis Pierson joined the daguerreotype studio of Léopold Ernest and Louis Frédéric Mayer in 1855, shortly after they had been named official photographer of His Majesty the Emperor. Pierson's 1861 photographs of the family and court of Napoleon III sold very well to the public, allowing Pierson and Mayer to open another studio in Brussels, where they were able to expand the business to other European royalty.
