Chen Zhifo (1896.9.23--1962.1.15), a native of Yuyao, Zhejiang. Modern art educator, arts and crafts artist, painter. In 1916, he graduated from the Machine Weaving Department of Hangzhou A Type Industrial School and stayed in school to teach pattern courses. In 1918, he went to Tokyo Art School to study in the Arts and Crafts Department of Japan. He was the first foreign student to study arts and crafts in Japan. He once founded the Shangmei Pattern Museum. He successively served as a professor at Shanghai University of the Arts, Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and the Art Department of Nanjing Central University, and a professor and head of the Art Department of Nanjing University. Director of Chinese Artists Association, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Branch of China Artists Association, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, etc.
