Large and impressive late 19th century Danish silver table centrepiece, the circular bowl with shaped rim embossed with shell, flower head and foliate scroll border, upon a baluster stem with twin scroll handles to shoulders, and domed quatrefoil base upon four foliate scroll feet, embossed throughout with conforming shell motifs and foliate scroll work, bowl and base impressed with maker's mark for V. Christesen, Copenhagen (1893-1910), alongside Danish Three Towers mark for 1889, with the Assay Master mark for Simon Groth (1863-1904), H47cm bowl W37cm, weight 88.83 ozt (2763 grams)
