Beautifully framed. A painting that depicts a man walking alone in the mountain. Signed on bottom right. Hermanus Willem Koekkoek was a Dutch 19th Century painter who was born in 1867. He was known for his military scenes. He was part of the famous family of painters, son of Willem Koekkoek and brother of Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek. He was trained by his father, and lived and worked in Amsterdam, and from 1887 to 1891 and again from 1901 to 1920 in London. The record price for this artist at auction is USD $48,238 for "Hussars," which was sold at Sotheby's Amsterdam in 2006. H: 8 1/2 in. x W: 13 in.
