A Chinese porcelain blue and white vase, six character Kangxi mark, of flattened spherical form, the cupped neck applied with four panels of foliage a vase and table, the raised front and reverse panels depicting an exotic bird perched on a tree looking down at a deer and an exotic bird perched on a flowering tree, similar side panels, with a blue dotted ground with floral sprays and with outward angled foot, height 36cm, width 21cm, depth 13cm. Provenance: Michael Trethewey. A Gentleman of Taste. We are delighted to be selling in this sale and over forthcoming sales, items from the estate of the collector Michael Trethewey. Michael had an unerring eye for quality. He was a frequent visitor to these auction rooms, an elegantly dressed, unassuming man who bought well and had a singular passion for old school antiques. We are honoured to be handling his estate and as well as the items in this Asian sale we will be selling further pieces from his extensive collection in our September 2nd Antique Sale and across our range of upcoming specialist sales.
