AN EXCEPTIONAL LONGQUAN MALLET VASE Size: H:25.5cm,W:13.8cm,Diam of mouth:9.1cm Well potted with a characteristically gently tapered cylindrical body rising from a low footrim to an angled shoulder supporting the tall tapered neck applied with an extraordinary pair of hand-moulded 'S'-shaped fish-handles, each with the detailing of the scales and fins, all bellow a wide everted dished rim with slightly upturned lip, covered throughout with an unctuous even light sea-green glaze paling along the edges, the unglazed footrim burnt an orange colour in the firing.
