Large ancient Thai silver/lead amulet in a modern amulet case. Measures 4" tall and 2 1/8" wide. There are labels on the back of the two other examples I have listed on my website. The labels were put there by the previous owner- a Thai amulet scholar/ collector with a major collection put together In the 1970's and 80's, who sold off much of it in the 1990's. The date (written on the back is in the Thai Calendar (2015 is the year 2563), so this piece is 300 to 400 years old. From the ancient area of Petch boon in Thailand. Purchased with several other recently excavated pieces in the same collection, this piece retains much of its original gilding and red lacquer or other red covering.
