Makeup was worn by men and women alike, both for its aesthetic value as well as reasons like protecting the eyes from flies. Cosmetic pots like this were often interred in the tomb to allow the deceased to continue to look their best in the afterlife. Size: L:37mm / W:37mm ; 26g. Provenance: From the important collection of a London doctor A.R; passed by descent to his son; formerly acquired before 2000 on the UK art market.
