Biography: Tomas Sanchez born in 1948 in Aguada de Pasajeros, Cuba, is best know for his exquisite, masterfully drawn color saturated forested landscapes which both provoke and invite for the viewer. In 1954 at the very young age of 16 year Sanchez moved to Havana to study painting at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts. Tomas Sanchez has been the recipient of numerous artistic accolades, including in 1980 the prestigious XIX Joan Miro International Drawing Prize and in 1981 he participated in an individual exposition at the prestigious Joan Miro Foundation's Centre de Estudis d'Art Contemporani in Barcelona, Spain, thus launching his International Career. In 1984 Sanchez was recognized with Cuba's National Prize for Painting at Havana's First Biennial.
