This is an impressive replica cast in Bronze of the famous Winged Nike of Samothrace, one of the most important and beautiful surviving masterpieces of antiquity. The marble statue of the Winged Nike (Victory) of Samothrace (Nike of Samothrace) was discovered in 1863 on the island of Samothrace by the French consul and amateur archaeologist Charles Champoiseau. The statue is now displayed in the Louvre in Paris. In 1883 the sculpture was installed in its present spot on the Daru staircase in the Louvre, where visitors continue to marvel at this monumental Hellenistic masterpiece. This bronze Sculpture has a brown patina and cast using the Lost Wax Method and is mounted atop a marble base. Dimensions: Height 18 X Width 10 inches. Weight: 17 LBS.
