A French Louis XV-style amaranth and kingwood meuble d'appui, late 19th century, by Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener for Jansen of Paris, of bombé outline, the serpentine breche violette marble top above a single door with floral marquetry decoration, the whole set with scrolling foliate ormolu mounts, raised on splayed feet terminating in lion paw sabots, the top of the carcass stamped 'Mon Zwiener Jansen Sucr', 100cm wide 43cm deep 111cm high Provenance: Farm House, Farm Street, Mayfair, London. Condition report: Small chips and knocks to corners and edges of marble. Some surface wear and scratches. General surface wear, light scratches and a few tiny dents to the carcass, which are only noticeable when closely scrutinised. Some small splits and very minor lifting to the veneer. Two small areas of veneer lost to the right-hand side, with one tiny area of patch repair. Two splits to the interior. Some rubbing, tarnish and discolouration to ormolu. Some ormolu mounts ever so slightly lifted/ loose, but this is very minor indeed. Chip to the back. Hinge and lock working fine.
