PROVENANCE: Greenville, SC. Private collector, bought in Miami International Antiques Show during 1970's. Measurements: Height: 9 inch x Width/Diameter: 4.625 inch x Length/Depth: 4.625 inch Dimensions in Centimeter: 22.9 cm x 11.7 cm x 11.7 cm Chinese Qing Dynasty Qianlong gilt floral motif over red glazed porcelain double gourd vase. Potted in a shape of double gourd resemblance, with two bulbous bellies conjoined together, suspending a tall cylindrical neck, bulbous lower section finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top, with a slight flaring opening rim. All reserved in ruby-red underglaze base color which contrast against the gilt fine color. The lower body decorated with Shou Chinese calligraphy interspersed with scrolling tendril and flowers blooms among Fu bat with taotie mask. The upper body adorned with big Lotus flowers blooms interspersed with scrolling foliage and tendril, enclosed with scrolling ruyi on the upper mouth, and banded with interlocking key fret pattern on the mid. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous, the shape is uniformly proportioned.
