*A CHINESE HARDWOOD CANOPY BED, JIAZICHUANG China, Qing Dynasty, 19th century The wide rectangular mitered frame with a soft-mat sleepin g surface above a rectangular base, the six square section and beaded edged posts joined with five openworked panels of swastika design, the posts also joined at the top by reticulated top panels and a lattice-work canopy, all raised above a large rectangular base, the entrance connected to the bed by four reticulated panels decorated with swastika design, the top section comprising three openworked panels carved with a floral pattern above spandrels with similar designs ending in lotus stem-form terminals.
