CHINESE SCHOOL, DONG LINSHAN 董麟山, ALSO KNOWN AS SHIQIAO 石樵 (Active 20th century, Republican period) Two young beauties in a rocky landscape planted with a tree Ink and colours on paper Mounted as a kakemono Inscribed with a calligraphy completed by two seals to the upper left part Signed Dong Linshan 董麟山 Cyclically dated to a YI MAO 乙卯 year most probably corresponding to 1910 Dimensions (the sole painting): 124,5 x 33,5 cm Notes: Dong Linshan was born in Longkou 龙口 dans le Shandong 山东 near the end of the Qing Dynasty. He taught the art of painting to another citizen of his city, Li Wuqiao 李午樵 (1837-1912). Later on, he moved to Shanghaï to earn his life as an artist. His name is mentioned/acknowledged in the Repertory of the Scientific Research of the Shandong Province (山东科考名录). This delicate painting is a testimony of his oeuvre.
