A Busy Quay in a Dutch Town Indistinctly signed lower left Oil on millboard, 43 x 53.4 cm Note: Shortly after his 23rd birthday, Anthonie Waldorp decided to follow a career as a painter and became one of the precursors of the Hague School. Anthonie took an apprenticeship with the well-known stage scenery painter Joannes Breckenheimer jr. (1772-1856) in The Hague, who was also the tutor of the well-known painter Andreas Schelfhout. From circa 1833 Waldorp shared a studio with his colleages and friends Sam Verveer and Wijnand Nuijen in the 'Loterijzaal' on the Binnenhof in The Hague.
