The pieces are worked with a carved wooden body. These areas present the anatomical features in relief and have been painted, such as the eyes, hair and lips, to obtain a greater realism. The sculpture is dressed in a garment made of various materials, which provides greater veracity in terms of the representation of the figure of the samurai, as it perfectly imitates the costume of these warriors. It is a piece that perfectly follows the formal characteristics of contemporary Japanese art, presenting a synthesized figure characterized by its marked minimalist language.The samurai were the hereditary military nobility and officer caste of medieval and modern Japan from the 12th century until their abolition in the 1870s. They possessed great prestige and special privileges such as possession of two swords. They cultivated martial arts, indifference to pain and unswerving loyalty, participating in many local battles. During the peaceful Edo era (1603 to 1868) they became stewards and chamberlains, acquiring managerial experience and education.
