signed LOU JIANG WEN ZHI ZUO and with two seals of the artist Song Wenzhi was a Chinese painter known for his depictions of both pastoral and industrialized landscapes. Born in 1919 in Taicang, China, he studied advertising in Shanghai before attending the Suzhou Art Training Institute. Song died in 1999. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in Canada, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
