Seated on a large lotus throne emerging from a blooming bush, wearing monastic robes and a cap, with a vajra in his right hand, in the left hand a kapala containing a vase of the elixir of immortality, a manifestation of Amitabha Buddha, a khatvanga staff rests on his left arm, the Guru is surrounded by emanations of Buddha and protective deities, ink and pigment on canvas, mounted on silk brocade, 73 x 53cm. 西藏約十九世紀 繪蓮花生大士唐卡 Padma Sambhāva, also known as Guru Rimpoche is a legendary 8th century Buddhist mystic of Indian origin, who introduced Tantric Buddhism to Tibet is credited with establishing the first Buddhist Nyingma monastery in Tibet.
