Diana the Hunter is also known as Diana Nemorensis and Artemis. She was worshiped by many as the goddess of the hunt, animals, woodland and the moon. In Capua and Aricia, localities near Rome, there are still shrines dedicated to her. Her shrine in Aricia was on the shores of Lake Nemi. For that reason, she was named Diana Nemorensis Diana of the Woods. This Sculpture depicts the beloved goddess with her iconic crossbow, as she draws back on the string. She holds her perfect hunter form. Her legs are firmly locked and her body forms a line as she locks her eyes on her target. Throughout time Diana has become a popular feminist figure because of her beauty, strength, and chastity. This brown patina Sculpture was cast using the Lost Wax Method and mounted on a marble base. Dimensions: Height 14 X Width 11 inches. Weight: 11 LB.
