A Chinese octagonal Zisha bowl encased in pewter dating from the Republic period. The ceramic interior and bottom of the bowl have white ge glaze. The pewter exterior of the bowl bears incised decoration of flowers and bamboo as well as four 6-character inscriptions. Dimensions are: 3 inches tall X 7 1/4 inches wide, 7.6 cm X 18.4 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is significant cracking to the interior ceramic. Abrasions and dents to the exterior. Provenance: From a private New York City collection.
