A pair of Chinese famille rose vases dating from the Republic period. The bodies are decorated with women and children in a courtly garden. The necks of the vases are yellow-ground with lotus tracery, lucky coins, and bats. Stylized leaf and ruyi bands surround each vase's neck and foot. The interiors are glazed turquoise, and the bottoms have 6-character marks. Dimensions are: 8 1/2 inches tall X 4 1/2 inches wide, 21.6 cm X 11.4 cm. All measurements are approximate.
