A Chinese famille rose floor vase dating from the late 19th century. The vase features two quatrefoil landscape scenes, one with four figures in an interior scene and one with three figures in an outdoor scene. The quatrefoils are set against a yellow geometric ground with Buddhist emblems. There are two beast head handles with engaged rings, beneath which are small roundels of children. Bands of ruyi and stylized leaves decorate the foot, neck, and mouth of the vase. Dimensions are: 20 1/2 inches tall X 13 inches wide, 52.1 cm X 33 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There are multiple areas of repair and overpainting to the rim and to the bottom of the vase. Glaze chips throughout. Provenance: From a private Boston, Massachusetts collection.
