A pair of Chinese turquoise-glazed hu vases dating from the 17th or 18th centuries. Both vases feature low relief carvings of dragons and phoenixes chasing flaming pearls against ruyi clouds. A band of waves borders the foot of each vase, and a band of Greek key borders the mouth. The vases have elephant head handles, and there is a 4-character mark on the bottom of each. Dimensions are: 8 3/4 inches tall X 4 inches wide, 22.2 cm X 10.2 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is iron pitting and glaze chipping to the bottoms of both, but they are in overall good condition. Provenance: From Mrs. Pheasant in Central Florida. A family heirloom.
