A Chinese celadon Longquan lidded lantern jar dating from the Ming dynasty. The lid and body are carved with low relief lotus tracery. Dimensions are: 12 inches tall X 5 3/4 inches wide, 30.5 cm X 14.6 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The interior of the lid has a firing defect. The body has glaze skips and firing defects. Provenance: From a private New York City collection. The National Palace Museum in Taipei has a similar Ming dynasty example in its collection, accession number 004827-N000000000, as does the Zhejiang Provincial Museum.
