A Chinese metal letter opener inset with a jadeite plaque. The plaque is carved with a pair of pomegranates. Dimensions are: 7 1/4 inches tall X 1 1/8 inches wide, 18.4 cm X 2.9 cm. Weight: 35.1 grams. All measurements are approximate. Condition: There is a small break to one pomegranate, and the tip of the opener is slightly bent. Provenance: From Mrs. Hillebrand in Chicago, Illinois. Her father-in-law purchased these items in China and Hong Kong between 1935 and 1970.
