A group of two Chinese blue and white export chargers dating from the Ming dynasty. Both are decorated with lotuses on the interior and lotus petals on the exterior. Dimensions are: 3 inches tall X 14 1/2 inches wide, 7.6 cm X 36.8 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: One charger has a firing crack and two chips to the rim, as well as significant glaze chipping to the exterior. The other charger has severe, widespread repairs including to the foot and exterior, as well as glaze chipping. Provenance: One charger comes with a sticker from Sotheby's New York. From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
