A group of three Chinese blue and white plates dating from the 18th century. The group includes: a pair of celadon-ground plates with five bats surrounding a Shou medallion and a 4-character mark on the bottom, and a plate with red underglaze details of three birds in a landscape on the interior with three motifs to the exterior. Dimensions are: the largest plate with the birds measures 1 1/2 inches tall X 10 inches wide, 3.8 cm X 25.4 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Both of the celadon plates have rim chips and abrasions. One celadon plate has a design etched into the exterior. The plate with the birds has glaze pops to the rim, iron pitting, and abrasions. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s. High resolution images can be found here.
