A group of three Chinese blue and white plates dating from the 19th century. The lot includes: A pair of plates with a pair of birds on the interior in a landscape with a 4-character inscription, three bats on the exterior, and a 2-character mark on the bottom. And a plate with men on horseback entering a city on the interior and a Shou medallion on the bottom. Dimensions are: the largest plate with the men on horseback measures 1 1/4 inches tall X 6 1/2 inches wide, 3.2 cm X 16.5 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The pair of plates is in overall good condition with iron pitting. The plate with the men has a hairline, a chip, and a firing crack to the rim. Provenance: From the estate of a surgeon in the Washington, D.C. area. The items were acquired from various auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's prior to the 1990s.
