Description
Translation provided by Youdao
ca. 100–300 AD. Roman carved jasper gem depicting a male figure wearing a laurel wreath in Roman (or possibly later). The harp in the background suggests that this is a depiction of the god Apollo, the Roman and Greek god of music and dance; on the side, we can see engraved the letters 'A, D, and O'. Fully wearable condition. The item has undergone X-ray fluorescence analysis to confirm the metallurgical content suggesting its ancient origin and lack of modern trace elements. This analysis will accompany the purchase.Provenance: Property of a professional Ancient art and jewelry expert; previously with a London gallery; initially from a private British collection formed in the 1970s.Size: D: 19.8mm / US: 10 / UK: T 1/2; 11.9g
