Set of 4 Russian porcelain cup and saucers from the Gothic Service, Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, periods of Alexander II (1855-1881) and Alexander III (1881-1894). The cup and saucer with brightly-colored scrolling floral and foliate ornament in shades of magenta, green, and yellow within cisele gilt foliage, all reserved against a sky blue ground, the interior of the cup with extensive polished gilding in arched forms recalling the shapes of windows in Gothic architecture, the center of the saucer with a green, magenta, and blue flowerhead. The underside of the saucer with a gilt band about the foot and with green Imperial cypher mark of Alexander II, the underside of the cup with green Imperial cypher mark of Alexander III dated [18]81. Height of cup 2 9/16 in. (6.5 cm). Diameter of saucer 5 3/8 in. (13.5 cm).
