此件佛像质地选用产自我国佛教四大名山之一九华山特有的玉石九华玉，具有玉质温润洁白无瑕的特点。地藏王即地藏菩萨，地藏菩萨梵名乞叉底鹐沙(Ksitigarbha)。据《地藏十轮经》讲，由于此菩萨“安忍不动如大地，静虑深密如秘藏”，所以称为地藏。此件造像彩绘鎏金使得衣着华丽，雕工更是匠心独运，线条优美流畅，佛像开脸祥和，令人心旷神怡。
