French, 19th century. Set of six mahogany salon chairs in the empire taste, comprised of two fauteuil armchairs with sphinx arm supports and four chaises or side chairs, all having ormolu laurel and rosette mounts, and rising on shaped front legs with winged lion masks, terminating in hoof sabots. Upholstered and unable to look for stamp to frame, the wings stamped "92" and "19". Provenance: A copy of the March 17, 1942 receipt from Printemps, Paris, France and additional correspondence from Laguionie & Cie. dated August 27, 1942, will accompanies this lot. Approx. of one armchair, g. 37.75", w. 25.5", d. 22", seat h. 20.5"; of one side chair, h. 36.5", w. 22", d. 18", seat h. 18".
