Ring with a cushion cut diamond of approx. 5.15 ct in 18K white and yellow gold. The cushion cut diamond that you are mounting in this ring belonged to Queen Victoria Eugénia, who after her death appears in the distribution of her inheritance. Said diamond appears in the description of the Maison Gübelin of Lucerna that expertized all the jewels that belonged to the Queen, it appears in the inheritance as lot No. 117 as a "ring in platinum, bombé and pavé of 70 small diamonds of old size and weight approx. 0.70 ct with a large diamond center weighing approx. 5.40 ct color top cape and VS ". The ring that appears as lot No. 117 was later claimed by the Infante Jaime de Borbón, Duke of Anjou and Segovia who in turn used it as a present for his second wife, the Duchess of Segovia who ordered it to be re-carved and transformed into another most current piece. When the Duke died he had to part with the ring, selling it to the direct heir of the current owner, whose transaction was carried out in Lausane before a notary. A few years later the piece underwent a transformation again, arriving as we show it in our auction. This ring appeared in a French auction house in 2018.
