George Washington Parke Custis Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 7.5" x 9", Arlington House, Washington D.C.; September 5, no year. George Washington Parke Custis was the adopted son, and step-grandson, of George Washington. In this letter Custis enclosed a $10 donation to the President of the Board of Health, Dr. Henry Hunt. It reads in part: "Enclosed you will receive a draft for a small sum, which I pray you to appropriate in aid of the poor and destitute…" He may be referring to the Cholera epidemic of 1849 and 1850 that ravaged Washington D.C.
