Samuel Hahnemann Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 7" x 2.25" (sight), Leipzig; July 23, 1815. Addressed to a Mr. Buchner. The letter is written in German, untranslated. Matted and framed with an image of Hahnemann to an overall size of 11.75" x 16.5". Not examined outside of the frame. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) was a German physician who is considered the founder of homeopathy. While translating medical texts in 1780 he first formulated his theory of similia similibus curantur which postulates that any drug capable of causing damaging symptoms in healthy individuals could cure an ill person suffering from similar symptoms. Condition: Letter has 1.75" closed tear along the crease that touches the first letter of the last name in the signature with a .5" open tear along the top margin.
